Keynote by PUB, Singapore’s National Water Agency

Speaker: Bernard Koh

Mr Bernard Koh is the Assistant Chief Executive of PUB, Singapore’s National Water Agency. He oversees PUB's Future Systems and Technology cluster to future-proof the water systems by leveraging on Research & Development (R&D) to accelerate the deployment of technologies in PUB. He also oversees the industry collaboration strategies by supporting the growth of water companies and their commercialisation effort.

Being with PUB for many years, he has extensive operational experience across the entire engineering value chain. In his previous position as Director of Water Supply (Plants) Department, he was responsible for the operation and maintenance of Water Treatment Plants, NEWater Factories and Desalination Plants.

Bernard led the Water Systems Unit which was responsible for the reliability, resilience and optimisation of PUB’s operations at the system level. He was also involved in project management of large infrastructure projects.

Bernard graduated with a Bachelors’ Degree in Electrical Engineering from Nanyang Technological University and a Masters in Electrical Engineering from National University of Singapore. He is a registered Professional Electrical Engineer with the Singapore Professional Engineers Board and a Chartered Engineer (Systems Engineering) with the Institution of Engineers Singapore.

Nature-Based Solutions: Smart Water Management Powered by Nature

Speaker: Professor Ana Deletic
Professor in Water Engineering and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Engineering
Queensland University of Technology

Ana is Professor in Water Engineering and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Queensland University of Technology, Australia. She previously served as Pro Vice-Chancellor Research at the University of New South Wales and held senior academic roles at Monash University.

Her research centres on urban water management, with expertise in stormwater, green treatment technologies, and socio-technical modelling. Internationally recognised for applying research in practice, Ana has published around 350 works, supervised 40 PhD students to completion, and holds an h-index of 79 with over 23,000 citations—making her the most published scholar in stormwater.

A Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering and Honorary Fellow of Engineers Australia, Ana’s awards include the 2012 Victoria Prize for Science and Innovation, the 2024 IWA/IAHR Career Achievement Award, and the title of Australia's Most Innovative Engineer in 2017. She is currently Editor in Chief of Water Research, a leading Nature-indexed journal.

Mark leads the Global Water Business of Arup and has been with the firm for 36 years.

He is an international thought leader on sustainable water management, nature-based solutions and water resilience and has worked around the world. He is on the Organising Committee for Singapore International Water Week and has led the initiative to include Young Water Professionals at Stockholm World Water Week for the last 7 years.

He is an Arup Fellow and Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Society for the Environment and Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management, a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers.

Mark is currently Chair of British Water and former Chair of the Water Industry Forum.
