WELCOME TO THE 41ST IAHR WORLD CONGRESS

International Steering Group

On behalf of the International Association for Hydro-environment Engineering and Research (IAHR) I am delighted to invite you to participate in the 41st IAHR World Congress to be held in Singapore from June 22nd to 27th, 2025. For almost eighty years, the biennial IAHR World Congresses have brought together leading experts to help address the world’s pressing water environment engineering challenges. The event provides researchers, engineers, and decision makers the opportunity to share recent advances and experiences, identify emerging technology trends, and engage in lively debates.

Following the last IAHR Congress held in 2023 in Vienna, Austria under the theme “From Snow to Sea”, the main theme of the 41st IAHR World Congress will be “Innovative Water Engineering for Sustainable Development”. Today, more than ever water engineering stands out as a necessary field to re-shape our society and build a better future. IAHR wants to guide the hydro-environment community on this journey, but to do so we must understand water engineering from a holistic point of view. IAHR is the only global water association focused on the entire water cycle, from mountains to coasts and that’s why we aim to be the global hub of knowledge and innovation for holistic water engineering.

Since its creation in 1935, IAHR is known as a leading international organisation of engineers and professionals in fields related to the water environment. IAHR stimulates and promotes research and its application by sharing new research paradigms and networks, setting industry standards, informing best water management practices, and nurturing young professionals. Through its powerful knowledge products and networks, IAHR makes important contributions to sustainable development in many ways.

Water engineering underpins and impacts almost every aspect of our lives. It gives rise to options and solutions for improved policy settings, economic growth, as well as physical, social, and environmental well-being as we strive for global water security. As countries accelerate the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, the most critical and the costliest solutions all involve water infrastructure, technologies, and innovations. At the upcoming Congress, IAHR will present exciting knowledge platforms and prominent speakers on global water issues and some of most discussed topics like the use of artificial intelligence solutions within the water sector and the paradigm of resilient societies.

I, therefore, welcome you to join us and share with us your work!

I look forward to welcoming you to Singapore in June 2025!
