Emerging Issues for Water Management in Remote Regions with Interplay of Climate Change, Social, Economic and Environmental Factors

Convenors: Satoru Oishi, Ramesh S. V. Teegavarapu, Elpida Kolokytha, Carlos de Oliveira Galvão

This session invites contributions summarising and discussing water management problems and experiences in remote regions focusing on climate change and variability combined with social, economic, and environmental issues. Remote regions refer to those that are economically distressed, underdeveloped, and lack the infrastructure to handle problems related to evolving climate and other regional stresses. Climate change impacts in many of these regions make it critical to address the issue of water and natural resource management. The planned session is expected to attract studies from different regions of the world addressing the described core issues.
