Chestnut Avenue Waterworks

Chestnut Avenue Waterworks is the largest waterworks and the first membrane water treatment plant in Singapore. The Waterworks comprises two separate but interconnected treatment plants, each with a nominal capacity of 273 Ml/d (60 Mgd). The first treatment plant is a conventional water treatment plant, and the second treatment plant is an immersed ultra-filtration membrane plant commissioned in 1975 and 2003 respectively. Second treatment plant was subsequently upgraded with Ozone and Bacteriological Activated Carbon (BAC) Filter Beds to reduce disinfectant by-product (DBP) formation, and to remove taste and odour causing compounds.
